TV star who appeared in 111 episodes of hit show 'dies in his sleep'

TV star Jack Hogan, known for his role in Combat! and The A-Team has tragically died in his sleep, according to his son.
The 94-year-old starred in 111 episodes of the long-running drama, playing PFC Kirby. Jack Hogan acted in Combat! alongside Rick Jason, Pierre Jalbert and Bic Morrow. The TV series was on the small screen between 1962 and 1967. Jack Hogan he starred in an array of series over the years, including the famous show, The A-Team.
Jack Hogan from Combat! dies
The retired actor died at his home on Bainbridge Island in Washington, Variety reports. He passed away on December 6 and of natural causes, his son told the outlet.
Jack Hogan was known for his role in Combat! which aired on ABC, and followed a squad of American soldiers fighting in France during World War II.
But he had experience as a veteran, as the North Carolina native joined the Air Force and fought in the Korean War, where he rose to staff sergeant. Hogan earned his pilot’s license at the young age of 16, and joined the force after graduating. He studied architecture in college before he joined the service.
Born Richard Roland Benson Jr, he studied drama in New York before moving to Hollywood. He worked as a lifeguard at the Beverly Hills Hotel while taking classes at the Pasadena Playhouse. This was before he received his big break.
Jack Hogan also starred in another series, outside Combat! playing sergeant Jerry Miller on NBC’s Adam-12. He later went on to work as a casting director for Magnum PI.
TV star’s long history on the screen
The celebrity‘s acting credits include five films, starting with Man from Del Rio in 1956. Hogan was later cast in movie The Bonnie Parker Story (1958), before Paratroop Command four years later. The star went on to feature in The Legend of Tom Dooley the same year, before The Cat Burglar the following year.
Jack Hogan also appeared in an episode of The A Team in 1985, playing Barrington.
Some of his TV works also include The Rough Riders, Have Gun – Will Travel, Bat Masterson, The Lawman, Sea Hunt, Lock Up and The Rifleman.
Other big series he played a part in involve SWAT, Kojack, Hawaii Five-O, Quincy ME and 12 episodes of Jake and the Fatman.
Jack Hogan married Playboy model
The actor married Playboy model and actress Joyce Nizzari. They were together for 13 years, between 1967 and 1980, before splitting up. Hogan then tied the knot with Barbara Bates.
According to Variety, he is survived by his first wife, nephew Kipland Howard, daughter Tehani Hogan and his son West. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kai and Skyler.
