Brand story: SkinCeuticals | South China Morning Post
What is it? SkinCeuticals is a dermatological, anti-ageing brand founded by Sheldon Pinnell, an emeritus professor at the Dermatology Centre at Duke University in the US. Pinnell owns the patent for the antioxidant L-ascorbic acid, which is vitamin C in its most stable form.
What is its philosophy? SkinCeuticals has been developing antioxidants with Pinnell and his research team to provide protection from free radicals, the nasties generated by sun exposure and pollution that age our skin. They have found that skin reacts and absorbs products most effectively at an optimal concentration and pH.
Why would I use it? Doctors and skin centres here sell it because of its targeted approach using antioxidants at strengths you can't always find on store shelves. This is because SkinCeuticals has nine patented antioxidant technologies and boasts award-winning products such as CE Ferulic and Eye Gel AOX+. Only a few drops of the serums are needed.
What are its plans for the future? The brand is launching its fourth generation antioxidant, Phloretin CF, saying it gives 'clinically proven broad-spectrum results, improving the appearance of wrinkles, dull and sagging skin'. Phloretin CF is said to be the first antioxidant product equipped with 'brightening effects' intended to even out the complexion and diminish brown spots.
Where can I buy it and how much does it cost? It is available from professional skin-care centres, doctors and dermatologists, including Lauren Bramley and Associates in Central. The new Phloretin CF costs HK$1,860 for 30ml (tel: 2828 1383).
